The Peace of God
Read: Philippians 4:4-7
Life at times can feel like a series of ups and downs, trials and victories, sicknesses and well-being. During all these times, you must keep your heart and mind on the right track in your service to God. The reality is that it is difficult to stay faithful and be under control.
To be successful in our service to God there is one major characteristic that we must have in our life. That is the Peace of God. As our reading states, this peace will keep our hearts and minds on the right track. Read Colossians 3:15.
Peace does not mean a place where there is no noise or trouble or hard work to perform. It means to be in the midst of all these activities and still be calm in your heart and mind and under control to stay a faithful Christian.
Jesus knew that we would all need this type of peace. This is why He left it for us after He ascended to Heaven and He wants to give it to us today. Read John 14:27. Jesus left us and gives us His peace so we will not be troubled or afraid as we serve Him. He is our peace. Read Ephesians 2:14.
How can we get God’s peace and keep it today?
- Realize you need it and strive to obtain it. Read Psalms 34:14, Romans 10:15
- Be at peace with others. Read Mark 9:50, Hebrews 12:14
- Pray for peace in your life. Read Psalms 29:11
The world today needs to see God’s peace in our life so we can help them learn about Jesus and be better equipped during these trying times. We can show the peace of God in our speech, our love to one another, our positive attitude and our kindness.
Do you have this peace today? You can have it because Jesus has left it for all of us. Take time to read the words of God about this peace. Put them in your mind and our heart and then go out and let the world know assuredly that Jesus can bring peace to everyone because He is the God of Peace.
