Do We All Need to Love More?
When one thinks of Jesus the word love comes to your mind over and over again. He loved his family, the apostles, the children, his countrymen, the lost, all his followers, and even those who hated him.
This special love that Jesus has for all of us we can also have. Romans 8:35 tells us, “Nobody can separate this love from us.” He makes an observation of people in the first century that he also makes today. In John 5:42, Jesus says, “but I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you.” The question for all of us today is do you need to have the love of God in you and abounding?
We need this love in our lives to be the servants and example of Jesus that the world truly needs. I Corinthians 8:1 tells us that love edifies or builds up. We need more love in our lives to help build up those that are physically and spiritually hurting right before our eyes. With this love, we will run to help them and lift them up.
We need this love in our life so the world can see God’s love. I Peter 1:22 tells us to love fervently. This means intensely. This is where you go the extra mile and do the unexpected for someone who nobody helps.
We need this love in our life so we can be perfect like Jesus was. This does not mean without sin even though Jesus was but mature and complete. Matthew 5:46-48 tells us that we must love them that are at times unlovable. It’s easy Jesus says to love those who love you. He says it’s easy to love the brethren, but he says to love the unlovable, those that disagree with you especially religiously. That is where you display the love of God.
So you can easily see that we all need to love a lot more. Let’s begin practicing this love more at home, in the neighborhood, at work, at school and in the local church. If you will love as Jesus did, it will become easier and easier and eventually you won’t even look at it as something you do but something that is just part of your life.
