Being a Wise Member of the Brookhill Church

Have you ever been asked, “What religion are you?” If so, what did you answer? I answer, “I am a Christian.” Often times, I am then asked, “What type of Christian are you?” I tell them that I have been baptized for the remission of my sins, Acts 2:38, and that I’ve put on Christ in baptism, Gal 3:27, and have started my new life, Romans 6:4.

The religious world constantly pleads for all religious groups to unite and not fight against each other. God does not want us to fight against one another but to fight against false teachings. II John 9 tells us “Whosoever trangresses and abides not in the doctrine of Christ hath not God but he that abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.” Those who fight against false teaching are often called narrow-minded but they are only Bible-minded.

In Matthew 16:18 Jesus told us He would build His church. Eph 4:4 says that there is one body and Eph 1:22-23 tells us that the Church is the body. Therefore, there is only one church, one kingdom, one family of God that we need to find and be a member of.

The books of Romans and Colossians and Ephesians and many more in the New Testament were written to local churches. These local churches were made up of people who had obeyed God’s plan to be saved and be Christians. They were told how to function as a local group or local church under elders. It is important for all of us to find a local church that God approves of so our worship and practices together will not be in vain.

God expects all of us to be wise Christians to make choices each day based on the advice and commands God gives us in His word. The strength of any local church is determined by the faithfulness of its members. The Brookhill Church needs to have wise members who will fight the good fight individually and carry it on with the local Christians to glorify God.
Are you a wise Christian? Your soul is at stake and so are the souls of your family, the brethren, and those that are lost.
