Have You Read the Bible?
Lots of people say that they read the Bible every day. In your reading, do you take time to try and understand the message that God is giving you? Many people read the Bible but not to find out what God wants them to do but because it’s a good, moral book. In fact, many people do not even consider it a reliable book but one that has been changed over the years.
Here are some answers to the skeptics who tell us this is not a true book. II Peter 1:21 tells us “For the promise came not in old time by the will of men but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” This tells us that the Bible was not written by men but by men who were inspired by the Holy Ghost. II Timothy 16-17 tells us that “the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” Here we are told God has given us in the Bible all we need.
The Bible has prophecy upon prophecy that has been fulfilled again proving that it is a true book. The Bible was written by 40 different men over 1600 years. The men were from different countries, spoke different languages and when all the writings were put together there was one central theme and no contradictions. Could man have done that ? The answer is easily no. I Peter 1:25 tells us “But the word of the Lord endures forever.”
The finding of the dead sea scrolls in the 1940s gave more evidence that the Bible we have today compared with copies of it dating back to the first century with only a few punctuational changes that did not change the meaning or text of the Bible. So, for the honest mind and heart one can realize that the book called the Bible can only come from God and is therefore completely true.
Have you ever wondered why the Bible has endured so long? The answer is because of the purpose God gave us for the Bible and that purpose is to tell man how we can be reconciled to God and live a Godly life.
Romans 3:23 tells us that we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans 6:23 tells us “the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life thru Jesus Christ our Lord.” The only way to reconcile ourselves to God today is to believe and be baptized into Christ, Galatians 3:27. At this point we contact the blood of Jesus. We are eligible for the grace of God and our sins are washed away.
It’s time for all of us to read the Bible and to see how true it is and the purpose God wants it to have in our life. It will change you if you read it with an open heart and mind. If you have never taken the time to read it like you should, why not start today?
