Have You Washed Your Spiritual Hands?

Since the virus has been moving throughout the world, the medical world has been telling us to do many things to combat the disease but over and over again we hear “Wash your hands!” They are instructing us to keep our hands clean of any virus that you may have contacted or you may give to another. It has been shown to be not only a good suggestion but a suggestion that can save your life and many others.

The idea of cleaning one’s spiritual hands, cleaning up the sin that we have in our life, is a more important cleansing that we should also do everyday. It also will help to save our souls and the souls of others. The world’s ways and it’s sins are so easily seen and offered to all of us each day. If we are not careful our clean soul can be made dirty so quickly if we give in to all these temptations. That is why it is so important for us to continue to cleanse our hearts and minds and yes our spiritual hands to be cleansed of these spiritual viruses.

In I John 1:7 we are told how to cleanse ourselves of sin. “If we walk in the light as He is in the light we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus Christ his son cleanses us from sin.” Here the Christian is commanded to confess their sins and the blood of Jesus will cleanse us.

For those who have never put on Christ and are not Christians and not saved the avenue for them to be cleansed of their sins is much different. Jesus tells us in Mark 16:16 to believe and be baptized to be saved. It is still the blood of Jesus that washes away our sin but here we contact His blood because we are baptized into the benefits of His death which are the blood and the new life that follows.

It’s interesting that when people clean their car of all the physical dirt and grime that they like to say “My car runs better now it’s clean.” Whether it’s true or not, what we do know is when we are spiritually dirty and we wash away these sins by the blood of Jesus, we will not only appear better but will love and function better in society. We will be a bright light in a dark world.

So let’s keep washing our hands everyday to fight this virus but don’t forget to also wash your spiritual hands everyday to fight against sin and keep yourself clean.
