Are you a person of prayer?

If so, you must pray very often and also pray for many things. These are characteristics of a person of prayer. Prayer is truly a privilege. Just think, the opportunity to talk to God, the creator of all things, one on one, then realizing that He not only hears you but He answers your prayers.

When one becomes a Christian and has been baptized for the remission of their sins, they have contacted the blood of Jesus. For one to be daily cleansed they must now turn to God in prayer and confess their sins. In I John 1:9, we are told, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” We must all see the need to pray as Christians to have our sins forgiven.

How often should one pray? In I Thess. 5:17 we are told “Pray without ceasing.” This means one is to have the attitude of always talking to the Lord and especially thanking the Lord for all He does.

When one prays they need to ask for what they need to help them in being faithful to the Lord. We are told in Phil 4:19 “My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” We must all understand that the Lord answers all our prayers but sometimes the answers are not what we expect. Sometimes the answer is no and sometimes it’s yes. There are even other times when the answer may be yes, but not right now. Regardless of God’s answer, we must always ask in faith. That’s what James 1:6-7 tells us. We must believe that God will hear our prayers and answer our prayers to help us stay faithful in His service.

So you can see that God wants to help us and will help us but we must also pray for wisdom, strength, endurance, and patience in following Him.

Never forget prayer is more than just asking for things but a time to praise Him and thank Him. If you are not a Christian, the Lord cannot help you if you have not put Him first in your life. Pray for God’s help in sending somebody to teach you how to be saved and be part of His family. Why not take a moment to pray right now for those who are lost and for the opportunity to help them learn about God.
