Don’t Just Follow the Crowd

When you were young, and you disobeyed your parents, and were about to pay the price for that disobedience, your parents would always ask you why you did it. Usually the answer was “Well everyone else did,” then your parents would come back with such an unusual question, “Well if everyone jumped into Niagara Falls, would you jump too?” What they were trying to tell you was that just because everyone else, or the majority of people do something, that in itself does not make it right.

Today in religion, so many people are just following the crowds. “Well that group must be right, they have 400 people”, or “They have 10 congregations around here.” Even in the Lord’s Church, many people are just following the crowd. They cannot give you an answer to many questions that face the church today. The only answer most people have is “Well, it’s wrong, that’s all I know.”

We all need to study our Bibles. Be ready to follow the path that the Lord wants us on, not what everyone else does. The Bible teaches us in Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter ye in at the straight gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there at. Because straight is the gate and narrow is the way that leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” The majority of the world will take the wrong path, so make sure that you are on the Lord’s path. The Lord’s way is found in the Bible, so take time to study it and ask questions, so you might be found faithful and have a home in Heaven.
