Soldiers of Christ Arise

When one becomes a Christian, he or she joins an army . . . the army of the Lord. Throughout the New Testament, Christians are referred to as soldiers. II Timothy 2:3 refers to the “good soldiers of Jesus Christ.” The world we live in today has little interest in following God. The devil has such a large army. We are in battle everyday against the devil and his army. It is a battlefield, not a playground. We can’t be spectators. We must be soldiers.

The history of the world teaches us that soldiers are to fight. In the physical wars such as World War I and II, we have heard about the valiant soldiers that fought on and on. I Timothy 6:12 references the good fight of faith that we are to have. This fight is not just for the elders, deacons or preachers. It is for everyone who is a Christian. Remember our enemy is the devil and his army. I Peter 5:8 tells us that “He walks about as a roaring lion.”

May we all decide today to not only be in the Lord’s army, but to be a soldier that fights on and on. May we all be able to say as Paul, a good soldier of Christ, said . . . . “I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.”
